looking for the proper number of database connections

Jumping around, as usual, I ran a series of tests to determine the proper number of database connections for the DBT-2 workload at a scale factor of 1000. I previous ran some tests to get a baseline using 200 database connections. So here are some results:

Number of connections: Throughput (notpm)
20: 5877.35
40: 7642.64
60: 8481.35
80: 8824.54
100: 9216.27
120: 9347.42
140: 9492.72
160: 9491.20
180: 9848.11
200: 9643.49
220: 9954.00
240: 9638.16
260: 9643.05
280: 9484.65
300: 9541.15
320: 9469.84
340: 9428.95
360: 9588.48
380: 9685.37
400: 9588.11

If the standard deviation holds true from the baseline testing, it appears that the sweet spot is around 220 database connections. The system still needs to be tuned better so we can't say for sure just quite yet.
